Send him to Brandon. He'll play with Provorov/Pilon and won't have to carry the load. AHL is likely to much to ask expectation wise; needs to get comfortable on NA ice. |

His contract with AIK only has an out for him to play in the NHL. Brandon's not an option.

He plays a very Hartley-friendly style, so I guess there's always a chance that he makes the team... but I'd put my money on Sweden for this year. Next year to the AHL, and then we'll see? |

They don't lose a year on his deal if he plays in Europe do they ? |
|
|
|
I believe it counts just like any rookie contract. Until he has played minimum games the contract will just slide a year. Just like sending a kid back to Junior in North America.
While I would love to see him in North America. Knowing now how the out in his contract works makes it seem extremely unlikely. Although this does mean that he could play up to 9 games with Calgary before he is sent back to Europe. If he really does WOW everybody in training camp it may be worth trying him for a few games.

I don't think so. Only if he plays the minimum games in the NHL... |

AIK's regular season ends around March 10th, so he could probably join either the Heat or the Flames for the end of the season and a potential playoff run over here afterwards. |

Will be an interesting camp for sure this year. So I wonder if he plays in the Prospect Tournament given his contract status... |

I wonder if there's a chance that the Flames could offer to buy out his contract from AIK? Those teams are always looking for ways to generate extra revenue and a big cash payment could be enough incentive for them to allow Kylington to break his contract...
Playing in Sweden won't be so bad if he could just manage to stick with one team and play consistent/big minutes for them. If he bounces around as much as he did last year it could really hurt his development.
Side Note: IF he were to get out of the contract and come back we would have the option of having him play with Brandon or Stockton. Unless this kid comes in and "wows" us I think playing big minutes in the dub would be more beneficial than playing bottom pairing minutes in the AHL. |

Loved the pick at that point of the draft, will be easier to keep track of his progress in North America as well. - Nucker101

I believe that he just has to be offered back to AIK before being assigned to the AHL or WHL. I'm sure that his team in AIK would option to take him back but they could say no. |

Wouldn't hurt the kid to sit on sit on the taxi squad for a couple months before being sent back to AIK; see how pro players prepare for the game.
He can take that experience with him to the 30 European clubs that he'll play for if he goes back. |

I can't see them saying no though. When he was playing with AIK he was used as a top pairing 25 minute/game guy. I'm actually ok with him going back there for a year, because they at least play him. Way better than Farjestad. |

what happens if we let him play on the Flames for 5-6 games and decide to send him "down". Can that be the AHL? If it's back to Europe, what if we want to recall him? Can that be done?
That really doesn't allow much mobility...think how many times we had recalled TSpoon or Granlund or Shore....in for a few games, then back down.
